Motorcycle accident claims life
A Perthshire man died in a 2-vehicle collision near Guiltown on Friday. The victim's been formally identified as David James Guthrie from Cedar Drive in Blairgowrie. The 27-year-old man sustained fatal injuries when his motorcycle collided with a black Volkswagen Golf on the A93. It happened just after half past one in the afternoon. Police would like to speak to a nurse who administered first aid to Mr. Guthrie at the scene. They also want to speak to anyone in the area at the time that may have seen either vehicle.
Eco monitors on trial in local schools
A Perthshire inventor has had her eco monitor design installed at four Perth schools. An event's being held this morning at Kenmore primary school to launch the trial of the Ewgeco monitors. They'll be used to store data on electricity use. British Female inventor of the year Tanya Ewing came up with the concept.
Think Tank joins in campaign to duel the A9
An independent think tank has called for duelling of the entire A9 from Perth to Inverness. Reform Action's asked for immediate action to be taken on Scotland's most dangerous road. It comes in a report about transformation of transport networks. Local MSP Murdo Fraser has led a campaign to see the road upgraded to a duel carriageway, following a number of deaths on the route.
