Perth cancer sufferer jailed for fraud
A terminally ill Perth woman has been jailed for a year after embezzling almost 90 thousand pounds from friends. Jennifer Dobie stole money from accounts whilst working at the Perth branch of the Dunfermline Building Society. The 56 year old is suffering from cancer and told court she has a life expectancy of six years. Perth Sherriff court heard how she took money from mortgage accounts over a five-year period to pay off massive debts.
Further pressure to duel the A9
8,000 people have signed an online petition calling for improvements to the A9.
DueltheA9 dot com was set up by local MSP Murdo Fraser. The Tory politician has campaigned to have the Perth to Inverness road duelled for years. Mr Fraser's asked the Scottish Government for a timetabled plan for work to start. He says they haven't lived up to their promise.
Development rejection on historic Perth friary
New Proposals for retail and finance units in Perth have been rejected after human remains were dug up on the site. Perth and Kinross Council rejected revised plans for the Riggs Road site after an excavation of the former friary uncovered church remains and human burials. Direct Flooring hoped to amend current planning proposals to be more suited to the economic climate. But their plans were not seen as suitable for the historic site.
