Two arrested over Perth stabbing

Two people have been arrested in connection with a stabbing at a flat in Perth. A 25-year-old man suffered leg and chest injuries in an attack at a property in Cross street, just before 1 o'clock on Wednesday morning. The area was cordoned off while police examined the scene. They have now arrested a 35-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman who are due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Friday.

Child protection service 'best in Scotland'

Perth and Kinross has one of the best child protection services in the country. That's the findings of a report released today. The report highlights how children at risk are quickly identified, and how support staff have good relationships with families. Council chief executive Bernadette Malone says the work they put in is invaluable.

0% rape convictions in Perth

There were no convictions for reported rape cases in Perth between 2007 and 2008. The shocking results came out in a Scottish government report. 55 rapes were reported in Tayside. Not one led to a conviction. Scotland has the lowest rate of convictions for sex crimes in Europe. That’s despite an increase on the whole in that year.
