Bald Eagle missing in Perthshire

A Perthshire falconer has issued a plea to those in the area to keep an eye out for a Bald Eagle which went missing near Auchterarder on Monday. The eight year old sea eagle – named Pilgrim – was chased away by resident Buzzards when strong winds carried him further from his usual patch. The Bald Eagle is the national symbol of the United States and was only recently taken off the listing of endangered and threatened species. Pilgrim is a distinctive bird, with a wingspan approaching 5 feet, and a white head and tail.

Perth Tories demand strong approach on incinerator

Perthshire conservatives have banded together, demanding that Councilors adopt a strong approach when dealing with the incinerator proposals at the Council's Special Meeting on Wednesday. The Shore Road saga as the Tories have dubbed it has concerned politicians of all parties. Perth and Kinross officers are recommending to Councillors not to go for revocation, but to defeat Grundon's appeal against refusal of the application. Revocation is seen as a last resort as it could leave the council facing a hefty compensation bill. The Conservatives feel the Council may have blundered during the process, and now demand a definitive end and do everything in their power to see off the incinerator.
