City Hall decision moves step closer
The future of Perth's City Hall should be decided by May, according to Council leader, Councillor Ian Miller. A four-week public consultation process came to an end today, with local residents and businesses asked on their views regarding the future of the hall. In total around 4,000 questionnaires were distributed with another 700 people completing an online survey on the Council's website. A special meeting of the Council is due to take place in May and Councillor Miller is hopeful that it will conclude the process.
Incinerator plan set to be scrapped
Unpopular plans to build a new incinerator at Shore Road, Perth, look set to be scrapped, after a report revealed that the Council would not have to pay sizeable compensation to stop the proposal. It had been feared that waste management company Grundon would be able to claim compensation from the Council, should the incinerator be prevented from going ahead. But according to legal advice the Council can prevent any development it views as detrimental, without incurring additional costs.
Local schools unite for good cause
Senior pupils at Perth's four secondary schools have united to raise money for a local children's hospice. Rachel House Hospice in Kinross is set to benefit after the Head Boy's and Girl's at the schools formed a new fundraising committee called the Perth Inter-schools Fundraising Team (PFT). The aim is to raise £5,000 by putting on a series of activities at the schools including a raffle and/or auction called "Bash for Cash" on the 1st of April.
