Minister visits Perth volunteer centres

The YMCA have worked closely with local secondary schools supporting pupils who have disengaged from formal education by offering alternative curriculum options.
The Minister also visited the CATH day centre on the Ladeside, to speak with volunteers about the charity's plans for the future and the new shop they recently opened.
MSP welcomes calls for american-style yellow busses
Local MSP Murdo Fraser is backing a campaign to bring American style school busses to the area. The Yellow School Bus Commission visited parliament yesterday and impressed Mr Fraser with what they believe can be offered to schools in Perth and Kinross. Many benefits have been pointed out, notably in cutting cars used in school runs and providing a safe option in ferrying children to and from schools. With school busses already provided in many areas, Mr Fraser is keen to see Local Authorities adopt the new yellow busses.
