The Justice secretary is refusing to quit after another Castle Huntley prisoner has escaped. Kenny Macaskill was responding to calls for his resignation after another inmate failed to return to the open prison near Dundee. Detectives in Perth are still searching for John Brown, who was given a life sentence for murder in 1976. Politicians say they've been kept in the dark about the recent escape. But Mr Macaskill says it's a matter for the police.
Appeal after cars vandalised in broad daylight
Vandals scratched sixteen cars on a quiet perth street. Local residents were left in shock after finding the cars had been vandalisedalong Abbot street and young street in Craigie. It's believed the incident happened on Wednesday morning between 8 and 10o' clock. The suspects were seen in the Raeburn park at around half past nine. They're between 15 and 16 and are of a slim build with short brown hair.
Increased concern for missing German woman
It's been a week since a German woman went missing from Perthshire. Sonja Von Monkiewitsch had been volunteering at Culdees Farm at Fearnan before she disappeared. The 31 year old is known to dislike cities and busy places. She left behind medication. Police think she may be sleeping rough in Perthshire. She's described as 5 foot 8 and stocky with long brown hair and a piercing on the right side of her nose.
