Perth City Hall plans submitted to council
A decision wont be made on Perth City Hall by the end of this month. That's the message from Perth and Kinross council. They received revised plans from Wharfeside developers today, which include a partnership with Artspace to turn the hall into a retail and lifestyle centre. It was previously reported that a decision would be made over the proposals by the 31st of May. But the council say it'll take them longer to look through the new plans.
Plans to 'split Perth in two' condemned by politicians
Plans from the Boundary commission to split Perth in two have been condemned by politicians. The MSP for the Perth constituency, Roseanna Cunningham, says the plans ignore the wishes of the local community. They plan to include Perth City centre in the North Perthshire constituency, meaning there'll be two MSP's. A copy of the proposals can be viewed at most public libraries.
Top Perth policeman retires
Police in Perth are meeting today to bid farewell to their divisional commander. Chief superintendent Matt Hamilton is retiring after 30 years of service with the police. He joined Tayside police in 1979 after working as an engineer. He's held posts as a national drug co-coordinator and regularly policed T in the Park.
Tayside police say he’s highly regarded and will be missed.
