Perth businesses told to ride throught the recession

The Scottish Government is calling on Perth businesses to make a full economic recovery at a conference today. Finance secretary John Swinney is speaking at The Perthshire Chamber of Commerce spring conference at Perth Concert Hall. He’ll be joined by a number of influential speakers, including comedian Hardeep Singh. They’ll also be holding an exhibition for businesses to showcase their work.

Perth man in seven hour beating ordeal

Residents of a Perth flat told Police they heard tortured cries when a former boxer subjected his partner to a seven-hour beating. Perth Sheriff Court heard yesterday how John Kerr punched Priscilla Taylor, dragged her by her hair and stamped on her head during the ordeal in January. The 25 year old pled guilty to the attack, assaulting a police officer and possession of cocaine. He’ll be sentenced next month.

Perthshire visitor attractions welcome regulation lift

Local visitor attractions have welcomed the Scottish governments decision to lift alcohol display regulations on tourist attractions. It comes after Justice secretary Kenny Macaskill made the announcement at a Perthshire distillery yesterday. He met with Kenny Mackay from the Scottish Liqueur centre.
