Council Food Audit
The Council's Food Law Enforcement Service has been given a positive report following an independent inspection, and this was presented to a meeting of the Council's Community Safety Committee yesterday. The Food Law Enforcement Service ensures that food safety, hygiene and quality standards are upheld by local food business operators. The audit found that the Council provided a high standard of food law enforcement, and provided a good service to both consumers and business owners.
Mountain Biking Conference
Mountain biking can be even more of a worldwide success story for Scotland – leading to additional health, economic and sporting benefits – but grass roots development is needed to sow the seeds of that growth.
That will be the strong message from leading speakers – including Scottish cycling star Mark Beaumont – at Scotland’s first ever national conference today in Perth.
It is being hosted to examine the development of mountain biking in Scotland.
Mountain biking has seen a massive rise in popularity in recent years, with Scotland now recognised as one of the best destinations in the world for mountain biking. Currently, the tourism market benefits by £119 million a year, with a potential for an extra £36 million a year.
Perthshire adventurer Mark Beaumont, will explain how his local cycling roots in Perthshire lead to the desire to cycle around the world – a journey which was watched by millions and captured in a BBC documentary.
Cat Protection Fund Raiser
Cats Protection are having a Coffee Morning this Saturday, at Scone Old Church Hall, Burnside, Scone from 10am to 1pm. There will be all the usual stalls including Cats Protection Christmas Cards, Calendars, Gifts, Tombola, Books, As New, Raffle and other gift stalls. Teas will be served. All monies raised will support cat rescue and rehoming work carried out by Cats Protection volunteers in the Perthshire area.
The Perth Branch of Cats Protection finds loving homes for around 250 cats and kittens each year. The Branch is run entirely by volunteers and depends on the generosity of the public to continue running its vital services for cats in the local area.
