Local Roads 'most dangerous in Britain

Perthshire's roads have been labelled as some of the most dangerous in Britain. A report published by the Road Safety Foundation says Scotland has the highest risk highways, listing the A822 near Crieff and the A823 to Auchterarder as being 'high risk'. The report recommends that the information is used to target resources to the worst locations. Now Conservative MSP Liz Smith has called on the Scottish Government to address safety issues on these local roads.

Three schools praised in reports

Three Perthshire primary schools have been praised in follow up visits from Inspectors. Areas identified originally for improvements that were identified before now needed to be marked on their progress. Crieff Primary school is said to be well placed to keep improving. Inspection visits to Meigle and Tulloch Primary schools found good performances.

'Bookbug' programme launched today

A programme called Bookbug has been launched today in libraries around Perth and Kinross. Bookbug is the new face of the popular Bookstart gifting programme that has been running for over ten years. The core of the format will remain unchanged – with over 5000 free packs of books per year gifted to babies up to primary one age children in Perth and Kinross. Parental guides have been updates, the initiative will be greener and also include more Scottish authors.
