It is to be the first time the Mayor and heads from the four cities will be in Perth at the same time, and a delegation from Perth's sister city in Ontario will also be attending. The weekend events begin with a Thanksgiving service in St John's Kirk and will follow with a civic party in full regalia. They will also be introduced to HRH Prince Edward who will also be visiting for the event.
Orange March - no problems, but MP unhappy
Saturday's Orange March through Perth may have gone without a hitch but that doesn't mean everyone was pleased with the events. Crowds cheered as the parade moved through town and fears of a riot or disorder seemed to be in vain. Political debate before the march saw Perth's MP Pete Wishart speak out against the plans. Maintaining that such a march brings with it a division rather than unity, Mr Wishart was watching the march, and says he is relieved the weekend is over as it still brought with it an unpleasant mood.
