PKC praised in audit
Perth and Kinross Council has been praised by external bodies for its preparedness in the current financial climate. Audit Scotland prepared the report in support by other scrutiny bodies. In an effort to reduce the burden on local authorities, each Scottish Council now has to undergo an audit and inspection to asses the level of scrutiny risk. This assessment, landing Perth and Kinrss as only needing a minimum level over the next three years has greatly pleased the authority.
BW museum features online
The museum of the Black Watch is to featuring in an online museum launched at Edinburgh Castle today. Remembering Scotland at War is pioneering social networking with an aim of capturing memories. The project, developed by Museums Galleries Scotland showcases personal accounts from civilians and currently servicing military and how conflict has affected them. The Black Watch Museum's contribution covers conflicts from the Second World War to the Korean War and the Kenyan insurgency.
Eyes on Loch of the Lowes as female osprey recovers
Wildlife lovers the world over have been keeping their eyes on Loch of the Lowes this past week on the nesting site of the world’s best known female Osprey. Lady, as she has come to be known, has been fighting illness since the weekend and experts feared she would succumb. But she has battled back, and though not out of the woods, is now feeding her chicks once again.
