Call for more housing in Perthshire
A charity's calling for more money to be invested in affordable housing in Perth and Kinross. Shelter Scotland say there's a chasm between supply and need in the Fair City. Figures show it'll take 11 years to clear the waiting list for council houses even if the list doesn’t grow. The director of Shelter Scotland Graeme Brown says more money must be spent.
Postie sentenced after binning mail
A Perth postman's escaped jail despite binning 200 items of mail. 27-year-old Garry Hutton stashed letters and parcels in wheelie bins along his route. A further 325 items were found in his car. He was sentenced to 120 hours of community service at Perth sheriff court, because he pled guilty at an early stage. The sheriff said he hadn’t committed a dishonest crime as the mail remained unopened.
