Ordeal for Perthshire Man
A seriously injured walker endured a terrifying four-hour ordeal after he plunged 40 feet down a remote Perthshire ravine yesterday. The man, who was described as being in his 50's, was airlifted to hospital where he was treated for lower leg and spinal injuries. The man had been part of a group of four people on the Meggernie Estate at Glen Lyon, when the accident occurred around lunchtime. His companions quickly raised the alarm and due to the remote nature of his location, resuce crews were lent 4 x 4 vehicles by local firm highland safaris
Golf Course History
Perth has a greater claim to the title of "home of golf" than St Andrews, according to one man who has been battling to maintain the integrity of the towns North Inch Golf Course. Robin Valentine has been a leading light among golfers opposing the siting of a planned pedestrian cycle link between Scone and Perth. Mr Valentine has said many perth people may not realise that the Perth courses' history of golf goes back 500 years.This is one of the reasons why local golfers are so intent on preserving the North Inch golf course
First Click
In partnership with the BBC's 'First Click' learning campaign, beginners' computer classes for adults over 55 will be offered through Community Learning teams in Perth and Kinross, starting in this month. 'First Click' will help to give an introduction to the internet and email, explaining how to use both technologies in a simple, step-by-step way. Classes are available in Perth, in five-week blocks, in the Fairfield Neighbourhood Centre, Perth Grammar Community Wing and North Inch Community Campus.
