Worries over Perth hotel reservation jobs
Concerns have been raised by a local councillor as Travelodge announce their acquisition of two Perth hotels. A spokesperson for the firm has said they will do their utmost to retain jobs during the transition. But Conservative Councilor Alexander Stewart is concerned for those based at the Isle of Skye hotel's reservations team where 23 are currently employed. Whether the national call centre will be integrated into the travelodge set up is as yet unknown - worrying staff.
Taxi marshals return
Taxi rank marshals will be returning to Perth tonight. Their role will be to help night-time summer revellers. The scheme has been co-ordinated by the Safer Cities manager alongside Tayside Police, Taxi owners and Perth Common Good Fund. It helps ensure the safety of drivers and the public, with two marshals at the rank during busy periods. Marshals will be in place through to the 14th of August.
Saints sign new striker
St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes this week tied up his fourth summer signing. Sam Parkin has now been added to the squad ahead of the next season. The pre-season friendly schedule is looking full, with a trip to Ireland ahead of games against Bolton Wanderers and Real Valladolid. The other headline game of the pre-season is Alan Main's testimonial against a Manchester United eleven.
