Economy of Etape report released
An independent report has been released on the economic impact of the Etape Caledonia. The event, which supports Macmillan Cancer has had a growing influence on the highland Perthshire economy. The report has shown over 1 million pounds was brought in this year - higher than the figure from 2009. A majority of participants in the study also said they would return to Perthshire for a holiday.
Tourism minister gathers organisations for meeting
Local organisations, businesses and the Council all met this morning in Birnam to discuss tourism. They were joined by Scottish Tourism minister Jim Mather. Discussions centred on how to promote Perthshire as a destination for tourists.
Swinney comments on employment figures
Scotland's Finance Secretary John Swinney has commented on the latest job figures released. Unemployment rates up to May were at over 8 percent. The North Tayside MSP says the Scottish Government needs to nurture the economy and protect recovery.
