Council Savings

Savings of over 20 million pounds will still have to be made by Perth and Kinross council over the next 3 years. This is despite a better than expected settlement from the Scottish Government that was unveiled last week. Before the announcement last week, it had been feared a massive 38 million pounds would have to be sheared off the council budget. The figure has been tentatively revised downward to a still sizeable but more manageable 22 million pounds.

Friarton Hall

A mothballed perth prison should be reopened so more criminals can be locked up, according to a Perthshire MSP. Friarton Hall, which housed young offenders was shut in March of this year becaused it was poorly used and its facilities were deemed to be inadequate. MSP Murdo Fraser wanst to see it brought back into the prison estate to ease the overwhelmed system. He raised the issue in parliament last week and was told the future of Friarton hall is under consideration.

Three Points for Saints

Saints came home from St Mirren on Saturday with a well deserved 3 points.
Despite the threat of an other cold spell the team are still training hard.
