Firarm use on local buses - claim
Perth and Kinross council are investigating claims of firearm use on local buses. It comes after a Coupar Angus teenager avoided injury when vandals attacked the bus she was travelling on in Lochee last Wednesday. Glass shattered leaving the 17-year-old terrified. She believes she's been shot at. Another of Stagecoach's Strathtay coaches was attacked just two days later. No one's been arrested, and the council plan to approach the bus company over the incidents.
Cigarettes responsible for fire deaths
It's been reported that cigarettes were responsible for all accidental fire deaths in Tayside last year. One Perth woman died in her home after a cigarette started a fire. An annual report notes that all three victims were in there 60's and became trapped in their homes. Two had smoke alarms fitted. Fire fighters are urging smokers to take more care with the disposal of cigarettes.
Fly fishing highlights Trout on the Tay
The World Fly Fishing championships reach their second day in Perthshire. People from over 27 countries have travelled to rivers around Scotland for the event. The River Tay was chosen for the River section of the annual worldwide event. Lorna Bromley Martin from the Tay foundation says they hope to highlight trout fishing in the river.
